This paragraph is going to be about Michigan.And why its the best state.A fact about Michigan is the state capital is Lansing. The state abberviation is MI and the largest city is D<span style="font-weight: lighter;">etroit.Some nicknames for Michigan would be, Wolverine state or Great Lakes State.The total square miles of Michigan is 96,810 and land area is 56,809, and water area is 40,001.Also the population of Michigan is 9,938,444. Histiorical facts.....First know inhabiants were Ojjbwa, Chippewa, Potawatomi, and Ottawa Indian tribes. In 1608-Sault Ste. Marie is the first perment settlement in Michigan. In 1787 Michigan becomes pat of the Northwest Territory.  in 1957 the  Mackinac Bridge is completed(one of the longest supension bridges in the world, spanning 5 miles). Did you know that the state tree of Michigan is a white pine. Did you know the state mammal is a white-tailed deer. Did you know the natural wonder of Michigan is Great lakes. </span>
