Lessons from Psalm 23:

The Lord is my Satisfaction.

The Lord is my foreman,
I shall not rest.
He makes me mow down the green pastures.
He leads me to generators beside rapid waters.
He wears out my soul.

He shoves me to conferences for my schedule's sake.
Even though I walk through the valley of relaxation,
I fear no chance of rest;
For my feelings of guilt,
they haunt me.

Thou dost prepare a
work table before me
In the presence of
my comrades.
Thou hast filled my mind with worry:
My workload overflows.

Surely busyness and pressure will follow me,
All the days of my life,
And I will run to and fro In the house of the Lord forever.

What is Satisfaction?

Have you ever tried to satisfy yourself by being self-focused?

Is satisfaction something quick and cheap?

I. Free from Want:

Psalm 23:1

God is MY Shepherd, He cares for ME, He watches over ME, He protects ME, He guides ME.

How many of us have or do still have the propensity to act as our own guide, physician,
and protector?

God is not the voice of your perfectionism telling you:

“I ought to do better”
"I ought to have done better”
"I ought to be able to do better”

Jesus calls out to the sheep saying:
"I am, I did, It is Finished."

II.Satisfied with Real Food and Drink:

Psalm 23:2

How much of our days are filled up with hectic busyness that cause us to get caught up with the lies in our own minds and believe the lies we are told by the world?

As we are lead is the key because we cannot go to these places on our own.

III.Satisfied through Restoration:

Psalm 23:3

“"Yet even now," declares the Lord, "return to me with all your heart, with fasting, with weeping, and with mourning; and rend your hearts and not your garments." Return to the Lord your God, for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love; and he relents over disaster.”
Joel 2:12-13

Repent from being our own guide, physician, and protector.

Ask the Lord to reveal where you have been guiding yourself, being your own physician, have tried to protect yourself.

“The law of the Lord is perfect, reviving the soul; the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple;”
Psalm 19:7

Take the time to be revived by our guide, physician,
and protector.

“Its peace is not escape; its contentment is not complacency: there is a readiness to face deep darkness and imminent attack, and the climax reveals a love which homes toward no material goal but the Lord Himself.”
-Kidner

You may have received Jesus Christ as your Savior, but have you received Him as your Shepherd who satisfies?
