Why is this defeat for them?

“"You have heard that it was said, 'An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.' But I say to you, Do not resist the one who is evil. But if anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also. And if anyone would sue you and take your tunic, let him have your cloak as well...

And if anyone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles. Give to the one who begs from you, and do not refuse the one who would borrow from you.”
Matthew 5:38-42

The kingdom you are apart of is of far greater importance.

II. The Gospels Impact

1 Corinthians 6:9-11

How do these additions to the list keep someone from celebrating freedom in Christ?

Sin is no longer our identity but that doesn't mean we are unfamiliar with it.

III. Freedom as a License to Sin:

1 Corinthians 6:12-20

You matter, your faith matters, your participation in the body through the Spirit matters.

“There is an ever-present danger that we bring ourselves into bondage to the very things we do by way of asserting our Christian freedom.”
Morris

The freedom to have a voice and a vote in the life of the church but not at the expense of the Great Commission.

The freedom we have to boast in the truth does not make us immune or unsympathetic to the realness of sin.

The freedom we have united in Christ by the power of the Holy Spirit is not an afterthought for eternity but a present identity for today.
