Why is the desire for revenge more satisfying rather than achieving it?
Revenge is a universal topic and is a natural passion for humans. The motive of revenge is to "even out the score" or "get even" with the abuser. However there is a difference between the thought of seeking revenge and presenting it through actions.
The desire for revenge is a yearn to make the betrayer suffer in some way. Although revenge produces the craving to inflict physical pain, it also causes the victim's hopes and wishes to exceed reality.
While betrayal and humiliation inflict internal wounds and destroy a person's confidence, taking revenge allows the victim to regain their pride. However, attacking someone like this will also create a cycle of revenge and counter-revenge between the victim and the betrayer.
Overall, revenge is difficult to overcome and can result in three ways: one, is to stubbornly keep a grudge and stay angry; two, is to ignore or deny that anger; and three is to simply forgive the person for their actions.
