Two main characters in Unforgettable are Baxter Green and Halle Philips. - Baxter is shy and awkward but he's also kind and very intelligent. - Halle is sweet and outgoing. She's also a little bit sassy and bossy.
Baxter and his mom move from Southern California to Wellington, Minnesota to get away from Dink, Baxter's mom's criminal boyfriend who used Baxter's memory to his advantage, causing a credit card scheme. Baxter stole Dink's 65,358 dollar outcome of the scheme and fears that Dink will find him and get "revenge".
- One part of the rising action in Unforgettable is when Dink sends a letter to and calls Baxter's new house - Another part of the rising action is when Baxter reads the names of the miners at the football game - Halle remembers who Baxter is and gets upset, which is another rising action - Another important part of the rising action is that after Halle gets upset, Baxter has to walk home from the game because he doesn't have a ride anymore and he sees Dink
The climax in Unforgettable is when Dink finds Baxter's new house and gets "payback" for Baxter stealing his money by basically beating him up. However, Baxter had recently used the money to help with the Environmental club he took part in.
-The start of the Denouement in Unforgettable is when Baxter's mom and her date come home to see Dink fighting with Baxter and she calls the police - Another part of the denouement is that Dink goes back to jail and can't bother Baxter anymore - An upside to the end of the story is that more people want to join the environmental club after Baxter read the miners names at the football game - Another important part of the denouement is when Baxter and Halle make up and he explains to her about his "perfect memory" and why he didn't tell her how they knew each other from the past
There is an obvious Person vs. Person conflict between Baxter and Dink but another important conflict in the story is the Person vs. Self conflict Baxter encounters. Baxter tries to avoid his memory issue by purposely failing his classes, lying to his friends and family and being someone he's not.
I think that the theme in Unforgettable is that you can find good in anything that's not so good. For instance, Baxter thought his memory issue was a terrible thing because it would make him seem like a "know-it-all" and he remembered everything he didn't want to. He was able to use it in some good ways though. He was able to remember the names of the miners, he remembered Halle who he became friends with again, he was able to remind his mom of memories with his dad when she was upset and many other things. Baxter realized that his memory wasn't as bad as he made it seem.
