HOW ARE ANIMALS CLONED?

  • Researchers take a cell from the animal they wish to clone
  • The donor egg's nucleus is removed and the new DNA is inserted
  • An electrical current is used to fuse the cell
  • The egg develops somewhat over time
  • Egg is put into another animal who carries the fetus clone

PROS AND CONS

PROS

  • Same features as animal cloned from
  • Faster reproduction in groups
  • Helps researchers
  • Source for possible needed organs

CONS

  • Expensive
  • Meats and food products not yet tested
  • Unfavorable
  • Arguments against

An interesting fact I learned was that animal cloning is being used for food products, possible needed organs and for faster reproductions for herds and flocks of animals.
