Why do we Dedicate Children Instead of Baptizing them?

What is Child Dedication?

We know from scripture that it is God's desire for Godly parents to raise Godly children directing the way they should go within Godly community so that the children would be salt and light in the community and ministry God places them in.

As a community we are affirming the parental call, desire, and commitment to raise up children before God.
Keeping parents accountable to pursue this desire to train their children, and coming alongside parents and children to encourage, equip, and pray for them on this journey.

Do you commit to be parents of personal faith, recognizing your child is more likely to follow God's path by the model she first observes in you?

Do you commit to lead a faith-filled marriage and home that honors God in all your relationships and choices you make in spiritually growing your family?

Do you, as a church family, agree to love, pray for, support and encourage this family as they seek to follow God in shaping the life of this child as God's gift to them and to us?

“All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
Matthew 28:18-20

People are “saved” or find salvation in the person of Christ and the work that Christ has already completed through His life, death, and resurrection and as a public evidence of faith in Christ people demonstrate this faith in Jesus through baptism.

Don't trust your baptism but
trust in Christ.

Do you believe that Jesus is God’s son; the eternal second person of the Trinity?

Do you believe that He died for your sins and God raised Him from the dead?

Do you believe that He is your only hope of eternal life?

Do you know that you have invited Him to be your Savior?

Do you renounce the Devil and all his works?
