I.Gain through Loss:

Acts 16:16-18

The hope of gain is not merely through loss or superficial gain.

"When the unclean spirit has gone out of a person, it passes through waterless places seeking rest, and finding none it says, 'I will return to my house from which I came.' And when it comes, it finds the house swept and put in order. Then it goes and brings seven other spirits more evil than itself, and they enter and dwell there. And the last state of that person is worse than the first."”
Luke 11:20-26

My hope is she not only lost the evil spirit but she gained the Holy Spirit and wasn’t left empty.

The practical of not settling for loss or superficial gain is not just the stopping of doing something but the planting of something better.

II.Worldly Gain:

Acts 16:19-24

What is worldly gain?:

Gain that causes the people around us to be viewed as people who are here to recognize and serve us.

How would I know if what I am really after is “worldly gain”?

In what way does this bring out the value and worth of those around me?

In what way does my gain become a gain for those around me even though they have done nothing to receive said gain?

III.Kingdom Gain:

Acts 16:25-34

“What must I do to be Saved?”

"If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake and the gospel's will save it.

For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his soul?

For what can a man give in return for his soul?

For whoever is ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, of him will the Son of Man also be ashamed when he comes in the glory of his Father with the holy angels."”
Mark 8:34-38
