Do we have a Gospel Centered Community?

“...that you may know how one ought to behave in the household of God,..”
1 Timothy 3:14-15a

“built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone, in whom the whole structure, being joined together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord. In him you also are being built together into a dwelling place for God by the Spirit.”
Ephesians 2:20-22

“Imagine all the members of your church living together in perfect love, sympathy, righteousness, and understanding. What's more, imagine an even more diverse version of your church -- with representatives of every tribe, tongue, and nation -- living together in such a way that each considers the other’s interests more significant than his own. No lying. No posturing. No one-upmanship. But shared rejoicing. Shared laboring. Shared zeal.”
-Ortlund

“If we do not show a beauty in the way we treat each other, then in the eyes of the world and in the eyes of our own children, we are destroying the truth we proclaim.”
-Schaeffer

“Much of the uniqueness of Christianity, in its original emergence, consisted of the fact that simple people could be amazingly powerful when they were members one of another.”
-Trueblood

“...which is the church of the living God,..”
1 Timothy 3:15b

“as sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, yet possessing everything.”
2 Corinthians 6:10

“Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God.”
Romans 5:2

“... a pillar and buttress of the truth…”
1 Timothy 3:15c

“"Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. "Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted. "Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth. "Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied. "Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy. "Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God. "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God. "Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”
Matthew 5:3-10

Blessed are the entitled: for they get their way.

Blessed are the carefree, for they are comfortable.

Blessed are the pushy, for they win.

Blessed are the self-righteous, for they need nothing.

Blessed are the vengeful, for they will be feared.

Blessed are those who don't get caught, for they look good.

Blessed are the argumentative, for they get in the last word.

Blessed are the winners, for they get their way.

Which of these two culture best describes us and our church?

“Can I ever be truly happy? Will my life ever be put together? Is my future more like something I have to settle for?

The Bible begins with a wedding and a family, Adam and Eve, and ends with a new family sitting around His table as the church His bride has fully and finally been made completely His.

“So when the devil throws your sins in your face and declares that you deserve death and hell, tell him this: "I admit that I deserve death and hell, what of it? For I know One who suffered and made satisfaction on my behalf. His name is Jesus Christ, Son of God, and where He is there I shall be also!”
-Martin Luther
