PRESENTATION OUTLINE
Have you ever lived in uncertainty?
I.Waiting on the Promise:
For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, declares the Lord: I will put my law within them, and I will write it on their hearts. And I will be their God, and they shall be my people.”
Jeremiah 31:31-33
“And if you are Christ's, then you are Abraham's offspring, heirs according to promise.”
Galatians 3:29
What does it mean to be a witness?
An effective witness has a message and has been changed themselves by the content of that message.
Are you an effective witness?
Without the Ascension:
- That Christ is presently Lord, exalted on high and ruling from the right hand of the Father. (Eph. 1:20-23; Phil:2:6-11)
Without the Ascension:
- That we have a mediator, who is a superior High Priest that intercedes on our behalf. (Heb. 4:14-5:10; 7:1-10:39)
Without the Ascension:
- An ultimate judge who will bring true justice and peace. (Eph. 1:20; Mark 15:19)
We live by faith and trust in Christ with the ever present knowledge that our King will come back again.
III.The Church in Uncertainty:
We Have Certainty:
- We have the Scriptures.
- We have the Holy Spirit.
We Have Certainty:
- We have the Scriptures.
- We have the Holy Spirit.
- We have a group of believers to hide away with.
We Have Certainty:
- We have the Scriptures.
- We have the Holy Spirit.
- We have a group of believers to hide away with.
- We can pray to the "knower" of hearts.
The king’s heart is a stream of water in the hand of the LORD; he turns it wherever he will.
Proverbs 21:1
And those whom he predestined he also called, and those whom he called he also justified, and those whom he justified he also glorified.
Romans 8:30
So how can I,
in times of uncertainty, find certainty in
God’s Sovereignty?
The heart of man plans his way, but the LORD establishes his steps. Proverbs 16:9
The best decision you can make today with all that you know is to be surrendered to God wholly.
For as we share abundantly in Christ's sufferings, so through Christ we share abundantly in comfort too..
For we do not want you to be unaware, brothers, of the affliction we experienced in Asia. For we were so utterly burdened beyond our strength that we despaired of life itself. Indeed, we felt that we had received the sentence of death. But that was to make us rely not on ourselves but on God who raises the dead.
2 Cor. 1:5;8-9
We can see our physical affliction as a tool to help us to be more dependent upon God and find true comfort.
The God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.
1 Peter 5:10
Those that have felt hopelessness in their singleness, marriage, or as a widow can be strengthened to be who God has called you to be in that season and established with an identity that cannot be taken away in Christ.
