PRESENTATION OUTLINE
Moses' role and calling find failure when done in his own wisdom and power but find fruitfulness and joy when done in God’s leading.
Moses chose the shame of Christ over the fame of being a prince in Egypt.
Moses chose the uncomfortable life of following God over the comforts of the palace.
Moses chose the promise of a treasure to come (future) over the fading treasures that were before him.
Moses' calling goes beyond himself and to a people who God is desiring to draw near in worship in that promised land as well.
Is it too late for Moses to play the role God has called him to?
Is it too late for us? Is it too late for me? Is it too late for this church to live a fruitful life?
How does God encourage someone who is living with shame and failure with the words of criticism playing over and over in their head?
I. God who is Above and Near:
“Jesus said to them again, "Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I am sending you."”
John 20:21
God meets us in the shallow of where we are and brings us to acknowledge our needs at a deeper level.
Have you been brought to a place where you recognize your deepest desire for true personal holiness from the Lord?
We are typically ready to hear God say “I am concerned, I see, and I am near” but are we ready for God to say “Therefore, I am sending you?”
For instance Moses is living with this bitter saying playing like a record of his shame and failure “Who made you a prince and ruler?” Ex. 2:14
Some of these things are accurate in part and some of these are devastatingly painful statements that play like a record in our mind.
The tension of self-distrust and a lack of faith which is sin.
What is a statement of self-distrust?
Self-distrust is sinful in its lack of faith when it remains inward focused.
I am undeserving and therefore grateful.
I can’t do this, it's too much therefore I must surrender to you.
“What if people don't believe me?”
(4:1-9)
However God chooses to work our response should be the same, bowed hearts and heads ready to worship.
Why don't people believe me?
“If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you.” Romans 8:11
People have a hard time believing in the death and resurrection of Jesus because I have a hard time living a life dead to myself and living a life according to God’s leading.
“I am not gifted enough.” (4:10-12)
“For they say, "His letters are weighty and strong, but his bodily presence is weak, and his speech of no account."”
2 Corinthians 10:10
What confidence does God give to Moses?
Why does this give us confidence?
“Send someone else.” (4:13)
Circumcision and the1st Born Son:
(4:24-26)
“"Behold, the days are coming, declares the Lord, when I will punish all those who are circumcised merely in the flesh…. are uncircumcised in heart."”
Jeremiah 9:25-26
“For no one is a Jew who is merely one outwardly, nor is circumcision outward and physical. But a Jew is one inwardly, and circumcision is a matter of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the letter. His praise is not from man but from God.”
Romans 2:28-29
“Circumcision is a symbol of putting away all that is unpleasing to God, and of dedication to God for the task ahead.”
-Cole
Putting away unpleasing things:

- Thoughts that devalue or overvalue your status before God.
Being dedicated to God for the task at hand:
If the Holy Spirit has not given you anything yet that He would desire you to show dedication in or there are too many things… look up the word Spiritual Disciplines and start there.
