PRESENTATION OUTLINE

What's in a Name?

I. Who do you Work For?

(Exodus 5:1-14)

Pharaoh and God think they should work. Where the two will collide is who will Israel work for?

Who do you work for?

Who do you seek ultimate approval from?

Who are you afraid of letting down or “failing”?

Who would you even lie to or over exaggerate to in order to gain favor or value in their eyes?

When you think about your week, when you have been irritable or short tempered was it because you were being denied something?

II.God Allows Life to get Harder:

(Exodus 5:15-23)

The Exodus is God's revelation to Egypt.

God allows life to get harder before it gets better.

God does what He does, how He does, and when He does for His ultimate glory.

God will not settle for part of His label and character to show but will not stop until all the world will recognize who He has revealed Himself to be in all His glory.

Ultimately we too desire the contents of who God is to be revealed to all. That often means life gets harder before it gets better.

What is Israel supposed to do when their work or worship gets harder, even when the tools they once counted on are taken away?

What are we supposed to do when our work or worship gets harder, even when the tools we once counted on are taken away?

III.“Who is the Lord that I should obey Him?":

(Exodus 6:1-8)

Exodus is God's revelation to Israel.

“And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, "Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God.”
Revelation‬ ‭21:3‬

What does it mean to us that God is "El Shaddai"?

“"The Rock, his work is perfect, for all his ways are justice. A God of faithfulness and without iniquity, just and upright is he.”
‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭32:4‬

What does it mean to us that God is a "Kinsmen Redeemer"?

“He said, "Who are you?" And she answered, "I am Ruth, your servant. Spread your wings over your servant, for you are a redeemer."”
Ruth‬ ‭3:9‬

What does it mean to us that God loves His people, rules the world, and keeps His promises?

Exodus is God’s revelation to us.

“If you’re struggling to obey God, you don’t need more willpower. You need to
know God more.”
