PRESENTATION OUTLINE

The Monet light experiment

HOW DO YOU CHANGE THE FEELING OF A PAINTING?

Changing the lighting of a picture can change the mood, feeling, and the interpretation of an image

For Example.....

  • Using just lighting, you can change the mood of a painting from a warm summer day, to a cold winter night.
  • Claude Monet noticed this by using a very simple object (haystack) and changing not only the mood, but also the whole interpretation!

For my Monet experiment, I chose to take a picture of a reindeer scape four times a day, (dusk, dawn, night, and day) in the same angle.

Dawn (7:30 AM)
My mood when I look at this image is Sleepy

Day (1:00 PM)
My mood when I look at this image is Cheerful

Dusk (5:30 PM)
My mood when I look at this image is Relaxed

Night (9:00 PM)
My mood when I look at this image is Calm

CONCLUSION

  • My preferred image is at Dusk (5:30 PM) because it has very original colors. It also makes me feel Relaxed and Calm.
  • Although Night and Dawn look the same, the lighting is darker at Night.
