Location:Utah located on the southern eastern end of utah
HISTORY:
- Date established: 1909
- Area of park: 146,598 acres
- Visitors a year: about 2.97 million
- 12,000 years ago there was mammoths and camels in zion national park
GEOLOGICAL FORMATIONS
- Layers were uplifted, tilted, and eroded.
- Zion was a relatively flat basin near sea level 240 mya.
- Sands, gravels, and muds eroded from mtns.
- Streams carried materials into basin, deposited them into layers.
- Virgin river carved the canyons in zion and continues to shape zion.
PARK CHANGES:
- The park has been and is still affected by water
- Wind, and animals.
- Waterf flows and solid rock melts into cliffs.
