AFRICAN ELEPHANT

  • It is the worlds largest land animal.
  • It can weight up to 10,000 pounds, and 12 feet tall.
  • They live for about 70 years.
  • It's tusks are made from ivory.
  • It's skin protects it from predators

CHACMA BABOON

  • They eat fruit, roots, plants, and bugs
  • They sometimes becomes foster parents if a mom dies
  • They can run up to 40 miles per hours
  • Baboons don't live in trees
  • Males can weigh up to 97 pounds

BLACK MAMBA

  • It's the most deadly snake in the world
  • They eat small animals and birds
  • It's poison can kill almost anything
  • They can lunge up to 6 feet

EMU

  • Emus forgot how to fly because they didn't need to escape predators
  • The only predators to emus are people
  • When the father sits on his egg he can lose up to 20 pounds
  • They can weigh up to 120 pounds
  • They mate when there 18 months old

KOALA BEARS

  • Newborns only weigh 1gram
  • They can figure out if a leaf is poisonous by smelling it
  • Females mate at the age of 3 or 4
  • It's killed by Dingoes, dog, foxes, humans, most of all forest fires
  • The baby's are called joeys

ELEPHANT GRASS

  • It originally came from Africa
  • It can get up to ten feet tall
  • It grows alongside rivers
  • They are 1 inch thick by the base
  • Farmers cut the grass for their animals

UMBRELLA THORN ACACIA

  • It is a very common tree in the Savannah
  • It can grow with annual rainfall of 4cm
  • It can survive when the temps about 122 degrees Fahrenheit
  • It can survive some frigid temperatures at night
  • It grows in sand dunes and rocky grounds

MANKETTI TREE

  • It prefers dry climates
  • It does not need much rain
  • It grows in wooded hills and sand dunes
  • It can grow to be 44-66 feet
  • It is also called the featherweight tree and the mangogo tree

SENEGAL GUM TREE

  • Is a small average sized thorn tree
  • The flowers on it are cream colored
  • It's a thorn tree
  • It grows the flowers on spikes above its thorns
  • It can grow up to 20 m tall

  • It's one of the most sun loving plants
  • It grows in open plains where it is disturbed by grazing, floods, and fires
  • It is often found in pastures
  • It is also called dogtooth, wire, Devils, and couch grass
  • They turn brown when it's has climate change
