1980:
*May 4th Tito Died.
1981:
*Economic crisis begins.
*Demands of republic status and more rights.

*Prosecution of Serbs.
*Relations between Slovenia and Serbia deteriorate.
*Slovenia increases talk about independence.

1990:
*Communist party dissolves.
*First democratic elections in 45 years is held.
*Slovenia holds referendum on independence from Yugoslavia and it passes.

1991:
*Illegal arming of Croatia and preparations for war aired on tv.
*Rising ethnic violence in Croatia.
*Slovenia and Croatia declare independence.
*Yugoslav's people army (JNA) intervenes in Slovenia by deploying troops to take border areas.

*Slovenia puts hold on independence for 3 months.
*JNA forces openly attack Croat areas and start Croatian War of Independence.
*Battle of Vukovar begins.
*Full scale war in Croatia.
*Fall of Vukovar.

1992:
*Macedonia declared independence.
*Bosnia and Herzegovina declares independence.
*Bosnian War begins.
*Federal Republic of Yugoslavia consists of Serbia and Montenegro.
*Yugoslav army retreats from B&H
*B&H ethnically cleansed of non Serbs

MOSTAR BRIDGE

1993:
*Fighting begins between Bosniaks and Croatians.

1994:
*Peace treaty between Bosniaks and Croatians.
*Serbia closes border with Bosnian-Serb republic.

*Dayton Agreement is signed, making end of fighting in B&H.
