YOGURT

Yogurt is made by fermentation from adding specific bacteria to milk in a controlled environment. It is a source of protein, calcium and magnesium. It helps reduce the symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome and prevents yeast and urinary tract infections.

PROCESS OF YOGURT:
Step 1: milk is heated to 200° Fahrenheit and kept at that temperature for 10-30 minutes.

Step 2: the milk is rapidly cooled to approximately 112° Fahrenheit and mixed with a yogurt starter, which contains the necessary bacteria.

Step 3: the mixture is placed in clean containers and incubated for a minimum of four hours at 100° Fahrenheit.

Step 4: To stop the incubation, the yogurt is placed in a cool environment such as a fridge. Kept cold, it will keep for approximately ten days.
