PRESENTATION OUTLINE

X-RAYS

X-RADIATION

A FORM OF ELECTROMAGNETIC RADIATION (COMPOSED OF X-RAYS).

X-Rays on the EMS
X-Rays have tiny wavelengths and have very high energies and frequencies. They are on the opposite end of the EM spectrum from radio waves.

HUMAN HEALTH RISKS FROM EXPOSURE (OR OVEREXPOSURE) TO X-RAYS

  • you can get cancer and damage tissue
  • repeated exposure to X Rays can cause damage

TECHNOLOGY, DEVICE, OR BEHAVIOR THAT CAN BE USED FOR PROTECTION

  • lead jackets if you are at the dentist

how X-radiation can be used to produce an internal image of the body

X-ray beam passes through the body. As it goes through the body parts of energy of the X-ray beam are absorbed. That process is called attenuation of the X-ray beam.
