PRESENTATION OUTLINE

WORLD WAR II

A. Hungary, Finland, and Romania declared war on the Soviet Union and augmented the German invasion force with supplies.
B. The Red Army had prepared for winter, unlike the Germans. They found comfort as the U.S. manufactured winter boots. Stalin ordered the Soviet industry to relocate to areas that were eventually away from the front.
C. Germany's war plan was based on economy. They counted on victories that wouldn't overtax their industrial base. Although, the economy had difficulty matching the allied effort. They sank ships of the allies. They began to fight more after the soviets began to take territory.


A. British and French troops landed on the French coast of Normandy. They opened up a new front to overwhelm the Germans.
B. The Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor to clear the way for the conquest of Southeast Asia and the creation of a defensive Japanese perimeter. They also hoped to knock out U.S naval capacity in the Pacific.
C. They captured islands from which they could make direct air assaults on Japan. They gradually retook islands. They decided to drop the atomic bomb to force Japan to surrender.

A. Hitler's "Final Solution" was to get rid of all European Jews. His "Final Solution" ruined the lives of millions of Jews in Europe.
B. Concentration camps were created in Germany. Many people died in these camps from gas, starvation, hard labor, and medical experiments.
C. They sought to reshape the postwar world. They sought to create a world that was sympathetic to Soviet communists and the Jews.
