GERMANY DECLARES WAR ON FRANCE

  • August 3,2013
  • After declaring war on Russia, to have a two front war with Russia & France.

PRESIDENT WILSON ANNOUNCES THE UNITED STATES' NEUTRALITY

  • August 19,1914
  • Woodrow Wilson announces America's neutrality to prevent war
  • with or in the United States.

UNITED KINGDOM CALLS NORTH SEA A MILITARY AREA

  • November 3,1914
  • From preventing Germany of advancing in the war,
  • The UK made a blockade of goods that go in and
  • out of Germany.

GERMANY DECLARES A WAR ZONE AROUND GREAT BRITAIN

  • February 4,1915
  • Germany establishes a submarine blockade
  • around Great Britian, any ship was seen as a hazard.

RMS LUSITANIA SINKING

  • May 7,1916
  • German U-boats sink the Lusitania on
  • it's voyage from New York to Great Britain.
  • This event triggered the American entrance
  • into the war.

THE BATTLE OF VERDUN

  • February 21,1916
  • Longest and bloodiest battle of
  • World War I.

GERMANY SEND THE ZIMMERMAN TELEGRAM

  • January 19,1917
  • Germany sending a message to Mexico
  • asking them to join the Central Powers
  • but decoded by British Intelligence.

PRESIDENT WILSON PROPOSES FOURTEEN POINTS

  • January 8,1918
  • Wilson proposes points to Congress and leaders in Paris that
  • would establish peace in Europe.
  • Many leaders do not agree.

TREATY OF VERSAILLES

  • June 28,1919
  • Germany acknowledges fault in the war
  • and is required to pay reparations.
  • The war ends.
