WORLD WAR 2 RESEARCH ESSAY

WW2

  • World war 2 lasted from 1939 to 1945
  • World war 2 is known to be the most deadly conflict
  • in human history.
  • With 50-85 million casualties.

WW2 BEGINS

  • The war is said to begin September 1st 1939
  • When Germany invaded Poland, and when France
  • and the United Kingdom declared war on Germany.

CONCENTRATION CAMPS

  • Nazi's were responsible for the massacre of 6 million Jews.
  • in addition to this they murdered many other people of various groups.

D-DAY

  • On June 6th, 1944 ally forces landed on the northern and
  • southern part of Italy eventually after invading this led to allied
  • forces defeating the German army units. Allies soon liberated France
  • and continued pushing the Germans back.

ALLIES WIN

  • From December of 1944 when Germans attempted their last hope
  • and tried to capture western allies main supply port. They were pushed
  • back without any objectives fulfilled. Afterwards allies gathered and pushed into
  • Germany until the Reichstag was captured in April 1945, ending the third reich's
  • military.

AFTERMATH

  • After the Reichstag was captured Western allies dropped atomic
  • bombs on Japanese capitals Hiroshima and Nagasaki to avoid invading.
  • Which would have cost even more lives. Soon afterwards Japan surrendered
  • and ended the war.
