PRESENTATION OUTLINE
I have come an awareness which is all around us ..
That we are in a society of a divorce..
Gone are the days which held
"it's better to say something nice and if you can't say something nice, say nothing at all."
Yuppers! It used to be one of the golden rules.
Now, everybody thinks their opinion and only their belief is correct.
Alas, to me it's like a divorce.
We argue over who is taking the couch
Who gets the dining room table
Who gets the dining room table
Who gets the kids on Christmas
Or who gets the kids
at all
Never mind who gets the dog!
The whole "Me, myself and I"
Thought process.
As I scrolled through Facebook this morning
I read about a community event and the comments from people had who attended this event.
I did not attend, but I enjoy positive comments or compliments so maybe I would attend next year.

The organizers of this event had changed the venue they considered a more ideal place for the public to enjoy it more than in past years.

Most of the comments were complimentary to the change, but as always these days there were a few not so pleasant.
Some said they would never return because of the change.
I had to step back for a moment from reading this commentary.
It reminded me of
my divorce.
A scene in my living room arguing over 100s of DVDs and CDs and who would get them.
With the constable in the house I was able to argue my point of splitting these items up equally.
My ex argued that they were his and I argued that half of my funds paid for the damned things.
I won the insane dibacle. We split them half and half.

Feeling satisfied with my winnings I waited for my children to come home.
When they arrived I told them to take whatever they wanted from the pile.
Their eyes lit up with movies, cartoons and music..
a lot of these never even opened and they were never allowed to open.
They were so happy cause it was so new to them!

Well ...that lasted a week.

When they returned from the following weekend from their dads..
my children informed me he took all the tapes and cds away from them telling them they were his.
Yup some special idiot is what I thought.
Their sad little faces broke my heart as they told me what happened.

Being in community these days is just like my kids faces that day.
will take the joy from others just because they can..
It doesn't make it right or good

We have to become better at being a human..
who sees the whole instead of the individual self.
It was ingrained in their spirit to share the wealth.

I can tell you I don't watch a lot of TV movies or even listened to a lot of cds in the past or now.

I can't tell you that I argued to give the CDs and movies to my children for it was so long ago and I don't remember what I was thinking at that moment.
I know I did argue for fairness for the whole. Those items were the whole family's belongings.

I have never forgotten the little joy my kids felt in that moment and shortly after the sadness in their eyes.

It feels that way when I read such comments here on Facebook.
It feels like we have forgotten the "Whole".
I am extremely proud of my children
Because they are not egocentric
Because they are not egocentric
And maybe from this life lesson they learned to do good in the world.

I thank the Creator a thousand times over daily for this!

A group of fifteen came together at the farm
