• THE WRIGHT BROTHERS WERE BORN IN DAYTON, OHIO
• Wilbur (1867) was older than orville (1871)
• Worked at a bicycle shop

FACTS ON THE WRIGHTS

• Never earned high school degrees
• BUT WERE BOTH GIVEN PHD DEGREES BY YALE AND harvard
• They started their own newspaper called the "West Side News."

DISCOVERY OF THE KITTY HAWK

• They observed how brids used their winds to for balance and control
• And tried to replicate this with an aircraft
• The brothers invented the first aircraft in 1903
• Wilbur flew for 59 seconds and at 859 feet
