MILITARY ALLIANCE MEANS HAVING A DEFENCE PACT OR A NON-AGGRESSIVE PACT. IT IS ALSO A INTERNATIONAL AGREEMENT WITH OTHER COUNTRIES IN WARS. WHEN YOU MAKE A PACT OR A AGREEMENT YOU WILL AGREE TO HELP THEM IN A CRISIS. YOU WILL ALSO GET MUTUAL PROTECTION AND SUPPORT IN A POP UP CRISIS

CONSCRIPTION MEANS THE MILITARY NEEDS YOUNGER CHILDREN TO BE SOLDIERS SO THEY TAKE THE CHILD AWAY FROM THEIR HOUSE TO WORK FOR THE MILITARY IN THE WAR.

INTERMENT MEANS WHEN YOU ARE PUT IN JAIL WITH NO CHARGES OR GOING TO TRIAL. IT IS MOSTLY WITH A BIG CROWD OF PEOPLE WHEN YOU GO TO JAIL.

IMPERIALISM MEANS THE LAW THAT MILITARY IS GOING TO GET MORE AUTHORITY AND OFTEN HAPPENS WHEN THE MILITARY GETS MORE POWERFUL.

NATIONALISM MEANS THAT EACH NATION SHOULD HAVE THEIR OWN GOVERNMENT WHICH MEANS THAT THE NATION SHOULD GO OUT AND FIND A LEADER THEM SELVES.

CANADA AND THE FIRST WORLD WAR

• Canada did not chose to go into war
• In 1914 Canada was part of the British empire
• Then Britain started war with Germany in August,1914
• Canada was also in the Vimy Ridge war
• Vimy Ridge took place in western front,northern france
• The war Vimy Ridge took 4 days (April 9-12 ,1917 )

• The war lasted from 1914-1918
• The war happened when sir archduke franz Ferdinand got killed
• There was a fight before the war started called Crimean war
• Soldiers would fight and hide in a shelter called a trench that is dug into the ground.
• During World War I sir John McCrae made a poem called In Flanders fields
• Over 9 million people have died in the war.
• It is a war between the allies and the central powers
• Central powers (Germany,Turkey,Austria and Hungary)
• Allies(Britain,Russia,Japan,France,united states,and Canada)
• More than 650,000 women and men in Canada have died from fighting in the war

REMEMBRANCE DAY

• Remembrance Day was made for the soldiers who died in World War I
• Remembrance Day is were you have 2 minutes of your day to remember the soldiers at war who fought for Canada
• We also wear poppies at Remembrance Day because there was poppies growing at the graves
• Remembrance Day started on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month
• Remembrance Day is considered a holiday for all of Canada

THE PRIME MINISTERS OF CANADA DURING WORLD WAR 1

• The prime minister was Robert borden and he was in the Conservative party
• He was a Canadian lawyer and a politician
• He was the eight prime minister (1911-1920)
• He was born in grand-pre ,Nova Scotia
• He also worked as a teacher before he was a prime minister and his career ended 1874
• He was elected in the House of Commons of Canada in 1996
• He put over a million an a half soldiers to war
• But soon there wasn’t enough people that volunteered to go to war because they realized that this wasn’t a quick end to the war
• He sent half a million soldiers to Britain
• He was putting in a huge commitment to the point were it led to the military service act and the conscription crisis of 1917
• He died June 10,1937 because of heart failure

Remembrance Day was made for the soldiers who have died in the war. When you are celebrating Remembrance Day you take 2 minutes of silence to remember the soldiers that died and fought in the war.we were poppies because there were poppies growing on the soldiers graves . It started on the eleventh month,the eleventh day and the eleventh hour on the date of 1931 when the first celebration was held. Remembrance Day is considered a holiday for all of Canada.

ANALYSIS

I infer that the war must have been really tiring and must have been hard for the soldiers to sleep thinking about if you are going to die tomorrow . Why I think that is because you are always on your feet and are constantly moving around trying not to get killed by bombs flying around like it’s raining bombs and also carrying heavy guns all around . So that is why I think it must of been tiring being a soldier and also why I infer that it must have been hard work.

I infer that it must of having a celebration for the friends you have lost at war must be nice so that you can remember the bonding you have had with those people.it also must be sad thinking that your family or friends have been killed at war for Canada . That is why I infer that it must be very depressing and at the same time you fell joyful to have a celebration to remember all the people you have loved and thinking that some people have died for our freedom that we have.

I infer that having a prime minister during the bad times was good because if we didn’t have any prime minister at that time things would be crazy . Why I think it would be crazy is because we wouldn’t have supplies such as guns,helmets,uniforms,and other necessary i teams for war. So that is why I infer it was great that we had a prime minister in the bad war times.

SYNTHESIS

If I could change anything in history I would try to have someone try to stop sir archduke franz Ferdinand from getting assassinated so that World War I would not start and so may people wouldn’t have died.i also think that if I could try to get somebody to stop sir archduke franz Ferdinand from getting killed would’ve made sure that a lot of people wouldn’t have lost there family members and not been depressed. My text Evidence is that most people got really depressed because they won’t see there friends and family members ever again.

EVALUATION

My opinion on Remembrance Day is that it is a great holiday to have because if we didn’t have it there would be no celebration for what soldiers did for us in the war. I think that all these soldiers need a holiday because it must have been really hard fighting and seeing most of your friends being killed right in front of your eyes.

My opinion on prime minister in World War I is that it was really important that we had a prime minister during the war so things would not have been so chaotic and out of hand so there was some one who could handle all the problems. It was good to have one because if we didn’t have a prime minister we would be having lots of trouble with supplies for the fights and not getting material for the clothes or guns for fighting with so my option is that we should be great full for having a prime minister though this bad time in history.

My opinion on Canada in the First World War was that is bad idea that we had a war to settle archduke franz Ferdinand death because someone else killed him .I also don’t think it was a great idea to start a big war because loads of people died and that was really bad because lots of those people had families and that must have been a despair to the families learning that there family members have died.
