During World War I Germany created many new innovations one of them was the creations of Ariel combat

  • Only the most successful fighter pilots are called aces
  • To become an ace, a pilot was only required to have killed 5 men
  • There were very few aces because pilots did not live long
  • Combat fighting was very dangerous so aces were very special
  • Aces were so loved by the people that when they died it was devastating

THE RED BARON

THE BEST KNOWN FIGHTER PILOT OF WWI

THE RED BARON

  • Born in 1892, under the name Richthofen
  • Began working in the air in 1915
  • By 1917 he already had 15 kills
  • By 1918 he had a total of 80 kills
  • Thats 65 kills in one year😱😱😱

RED BARON

  • The Red Baron went to lead a battle
  • When he was going in for the kill he was sneak attacked
  • This made his plane crashed ultimately leading to his death
  • He was later burried with full military honors
  • When he died everyone was devastated

  • He was one of the best aces known with 22 kills
  • He was hitlers right hand man
  • Trained as a solider but eventually became a pilot
  • He was named commander of his first squadron in 1917
  • He eventually took over as commandeer of the red barons squadron

  • Dogfights emerged in 1903 originally used to spy on enemy's
  • Ever since dogfighting was created it has advanced using weapons
  • Now they use bombs, guns, and many more higher tech weapons
  • Fighters used to use bricks, machine guns, and much lower tech weapons
  • Some men even used chains to take the other pilots out

As you can see, aces and plans were a huge part of WWI and have advanced so much since then
