VALLEY

  • A Valley is a hollow or surface of the earth bounded by hills or mountains.
  • An example is the Doon Valley in India.

PLAINS

  • PLAINS ARE BROAD, NEARLY LEVEL STRETCHES OF LAND.
  • An example is we have plains in Kansas.

REEF

  • A reef is a ridge of jagged rock,coral or just sand below the sea.
  • You cand find coral reefs of the coast of Florida and many other places.

PLATEAU

  • Plateau-highland area of fairly level land separated from surrounding land by steep slopes.
  • The Plateau of Tibet is found between mountain ranges.

ISLAND

  • Island- a piece of land surrounded by water
  • An example is the Hawaiian Islands

RIVER

  • River- a large natural stream of water flowing in a ocean.
  • An example is the Kansas River.

LAKE

  • Lake- a large body of water surrounded by land.
  • An example is Lake Shawnee.

MOUNTAIN

  • Mountain-a large natural elevation of the earth's surface
  • An example is the Rocky mountains.

STRAIT

  • Strait-1. a narrow passage of water connecting two seas or two large areas of water.
  • An example is Bab el Mandeb, connecting the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden.

PENINSULA

  • Peninsula-a piece of land almost surrounded by water or projecting out into a body of water.
  • An example is the peninsula is horn of Africa

ISTHMUS

  • Isthmus- is a narrow strip of land connecting two larger landmasses.
  • An example is the isthmus of Panama

ARCHIPELAGO

  • AAn archipelago is a group or chain of islands clustered together in a sea or ocean.
  • An example is the Florida Keys.

CANYON

  • Canyon-a deep gorge, typically one with a river flowing through it.
  • An example is The Grand Canyon.

DELTA

  • Delta-A river delta is a landform that is formed at the mouth of a river, where the river flows into an ocean, sea, estuary, lake.
  • An example is the delta of the nile river.

GULF

  • Gulf - A gulf is a part of the ocean that is partly surrounded by land.
  • Example the Gulf of Mexico
