  • Before, they took a parenting & household role.
  • Work & home life became seperated.
  • Marriage - child care/ quitting jobs
  • Being married meant less income
  • Cared for children until able to work

MENS/CHILDREN ROLE

  • Men were the main providers
  • Children worked to earn some income
  • Factory workers became mainly men
  • Men held higher job titles

HOME LIFE STYLE

  • Cottage Industry
  • Women jobs
  • Lighter work load/stress
  • Self managed

FACTORY LIFE STYLE

  • 10-14 hours every day
  • Repetitive tasks
  • Broke up family life
