ICATCH

Innovations in Creating Access to Careers in Healthcare

Focus

  • Sector focused for in demand occupation
  • Creates a career path to healthcare jobs
  • Employment infused throughout the program
  • Focused on low income adults 200% federal poverty level
  • Pre-college through AA degree
ICATCH is the second generation of a grant we had for 5 years CATCH.
The focus of the work is creating a community of success for low income people within the larger system.
Students fully integrated into the main college
Started in Oct w/3 mos planning

Working on different strategies to build in pre employment skills

Previously a cohort model, now not. Using different methods to create that touch point.
Laptop is a unique feature. Students can earn ownership. Very low breakage or inappropriate use.

Outcomes from CATCH 1

  • 944 Assessments
  • 436 Enrollments
  • 321 Completed Training
  • 212 Employed in Healthcare
  • Average Wage $12.36
For ICATCH the first classes are starting in summer, so no outcomes yet.
Educational pathway--working with folks who dont see themselves as college students......now have a few graduating from the nursing program from 1st round.
TANF outreach was a key component:
185 came into the program on active TANF cash grants; 127 of those folks completed at least one certificate, 81 are currently working in the allied health field, 98 are employed overall and only 34 (of the individuals that enrolled on TANF) are still receiving TANF

Disability Employment Initiative

Serves people with disabilities
Funded through Office of Disability and Employment/DOL
2nd round of funding for a focus on educational pathways

Of course housing is a huge barrier but as we are serving more who are unsheltered, we have to flex to figure that out.
For example, some programs see people who are homeless as unable to benefit from an employment service--working with the system to see that services can/should be provided.
