An interesting fact is that de Beauvoir states that “One is not born, but rather becomes, a woman.” She says this because according to her women are shaped little by little by the society and their character is determined by their situation

Since the independence Ecuadorian women have participated in the social, economic and political history of the country, especially after they obtained the right to vote in 1929.
In the 90s they have migrated to the urban areas of the country. Their participation in the economy has soared, and women have become one third of the working force.
The integration of Ecuadorian women in the power positions of the government has been considered slow and tardy in comparison to the rest of Latin America
The history changed in 2007 when Rafael Correa took the presidency of Ecuador and proposed a revolution. This revolution included touched 5 different sub-revolution:
The constitutional and democratic revolution: This revolution is directed to re-institutionalize the country to achieve the utopia of equality and diversity.
The ethic revolution: To vanquish corruption and to put in place transparency and accountability as pillars to social relations that allows the mutual recognition and trust.
The economic and productive revolution: To defeat the model of exclusion and to allocate resources in education, health, dwelling, investigation, employment and productive reactivation.
The social revolution: Through social policies articulated with economic policies the State must guarantee fundamental rights as health and education. It will give opportunities for the socioeconomic insertion, strengthening the abilities of the individuals.
The revolution for the dignity, sovereignty and integration of Latin America: To establish a clear position, dignified and sovereign regarding the country´s international issues and the multilateral organisms.
