WHO IS PIERRE LA PAGE?

Pierre La Page is a 13 year old boy. He now has a second mission in the winter as a voyageur, it is to have a wintering partner. Pierre used to be seen as a wimp, cowardly, and a young child. As he finished his first voyage, he earned respect from his fellow voyageurs. Now that his second mission has been given, he has gotten more manly, brave, strong, and healthy. In the first book his father said "You came in like a boy, and left as a man."Along the trip he young lad is still a bit devastated since his friend La Londe's passing.

LIKES AND DISLIKES

Pierre's life circles around his family, friends, and voyageurs. Pierre gained interest in nature. He enjoys relaxing and looking at nice sights. He also has a "friend" named Celeste. In the book Pierre likes her as more than a friend. However, he also had a crush on an Native American girl, Kennewah. He doesn't like his fellow voyageur, Beloît. Beloít is the typical "bully" in every book. Cause minor or major problems. Pierre used not be a fond of working. In his thoughts, he had mini flashbacks of doing chores. And complaining how much he disliked them.

CHANGES

PIERRE'S CHANGE

• Along the book Pierre matured mentally, not physically- Meaning he got more responsible. Pierre commits a lot to his work. He contributes to his team by helping and working.
• He also is now more open about his problems. Like when he was still missing La Londe. At first he didn't want to talk about it. Then later on in the book he talked to a good friend, Charbonneau about La Londe. As a good friend Charbonneau was like a father to Pierre.

• Confidence- Is a strength. Each day, he is improving every time he paddles. After paddling and carrying heavy bags, he has been able to carry more weight on his back. Meaning he is able to do more than he used to. At the beginning he was a still a bit rusty. Then he had confidence, and improved. Pierre is confident he can do his work each and everyday successfully.
• Intelligence- Is a strength. When Pierre and the voyageurs were in the forest, he started listening around the camp. He realized there was a forest fire roaring in the distance.
• Tragedies- Is a weakness. Such as, when Pierre was excited to see Kennewah. The father of Kennewah, Mukwa told him that sadly all Native Americans don't live long. Pierre found out the Kennewah passed away.

FRIEND?

I think I would like to be friends with Pierre. Because he has shown traits of a good friend. He also treaters his friends with respect and kindness. He also has proven that if someone is in a dangerous/bad situation, he will come to the rescue. When a voyageur had a tree fall over him, Pierre rushed to the situation and helped.
