PRESENTATION OUTLINE

LESSON 3

THE MOVEMENT OF AIR

  • Air moves because the densities are different from earths surface.
  • Convection starts because rising and sinking air form cells that create high and low pressures
  • The coriolis effect is the path of a moving object that moves with earths rotation.

GLOBAL WINDS

  • The 2 factors are pressure belt and coriolis effect and they produce global winds.
  • The three wind systems are easterlies, westerlies and trade winds.
  • Jet stream are high powered winds with high speed that occur in the troposphere

LOCAL WINDS

  • Sea breezes have different pressures which cause them to give a breeze.
  • Land breeze also has different pressure and that causes breezes.
  • Valley breezes also have different pressure than things around them causing the breeze.
  • Mountain breezes have different pressures up above so the get breezes.
