PRESENTATION OUTLINE

WIND ENERGY

A SOCIAL STUDIES PROJECT

HOW IT WORKS

  • The sun heats up the land.
  • The land absorbs some of this heat.
  • The hot air moves up quickly, making wind, move quickly to fill the space.
  • The wind pushes the rotor blade, transferring energy to it.
  • The rotor blade moves and the energy is converted using a generator.

PROS

  • Wind Energy doesn't cause pollution.
  • Wind energy is 100% renewable.
  • Operation costs for wind power are low.
  • Wind power potential is enormous
  • Wind Turbines are very space efficient.

CONS

  • Wind turbines can be a threat to flying wildlife.
  • Noise is often reported as a problem by neighbors .
  • Some people don't like how they look.
  • Wind Energy is unpredictable, it could be really windy or not windy at all.

HOW ITS USED AND CAN BE USED

  • Pumping water or grinding grain
  • Lighting homes, stores, restaurants, ect.
  • Sometimes combines with solar cells to make more electricity.
  • Can be used as an alternative to other types of energy.

WHY IT'S ECO-FRIENDLY

  • Causes no pollution
  • Doesn't take up to much space
  • Doesn't hurt the environment.

WHY ITS WIDELY ACCEPTED

  • It's Eco friendly
  • It's a renewable source
  • It produces more electricity.
  • It's space saving.
