REVOLUTION

  • In 1927 Wallace and about 30 other men seized the town of Lanmark, killing the english sherif
  • On September 11, 1927, Wallace and his men were confronted by an english army
  • He captured Sterling Castle
  • In October he invaded England
  • Wallace was knighted and became the temporary king of scottland

DEFEAT

  • Wallace was defeated at the battle of Falkrik
  • Wallace worked as a diplomat to gain french support
  • The French eventualy turned against the Scottish
  • By 1304 French leaders recognized Edward as their King

CAPTURE

  • Wallace refused to submit to english rule
  • On August 5, 1305, the English captured Wallace
  • Wallace was condemed as a traitor
  • He was hanged, disimbowled, beheaded, and quartered
  • The rebelion continued after his death

LEGACY

  • Scottland gained its independance 23 years later
  • He is seen as one of Scottlands biggest heros
