Early Life

  • Went to high school.
  • Worked at gas station and car dealership.
  • Moved from Washington D.C. to Daytona.
  • First job was bank clerk.

Early Influences

  • Said that driving on the sand in Daytona gave him an advantage.
  • Entered a 1936 race in a 35' Ford.
  • Working at car dealeship got him into cars and gave him expierence.

  • Organized NASCAR
  • Became head of NASCAR
  • Went to International Motorsports Hall of Fame.
  • First Inductee in NASCAR Hall of Fame in 2010
