Why Your Mindset Matters

By Brianne Golden

Fixed vs Growth

  • Fixed on the idea you're either one or the other (smart or dumb)
  • With a growth mindset you believe Intelligence can grow and you can always improve your skills

Your brain has 86 million neurons and when we learn new connections form and old connections grow stronger. Since learning is like exercise for your brain the more you learn the stronger your neurons will become.

Your mindset effects how you learn. People with a fixed mindset are focused on grades while people with a growth mindset are focused on the learning. A fixed mindset makes you scared of challenges. On the other hand, a growth mindset helps you be ready to face them.

Changing Your Mindset

  • See your challenges as oppurtunies.
  • Reflect each day what your failed at and learned from.
  • Stop seeking approval from others.
  • Work harder and practice
  • Effort makes you smarter
