WHY IS IT CALLED DEUTSCHLAND?

• Deutschland is what Germans call their country of Germany
• It literally means "land of the Germans" in German
• We call it Germany because we borrowed the Latin word for The Germans
• The Romans, who spoke Latin, had called the tribes in the north "Germania"
• Prussia formed Deutschland in 1871
