chapter 1 quote 2: page 15

"oh god lord of the universe, take pity upon us in thy great mercy..... "
Hes putting his faith in god, hoping that he could help out the Jews and stop the horrendous thing that is happening to them. I think you should always put your faith in something especially when your going threw something that is bad because i believe when your going threw something bad faith can get you threw it.

chapter 1 quote 3:page 15

"Faster! Faster! Get on with you, lazy swine!"
This quote is important to me because last night I was watching Law And Order (SVU) and they were talking about how pimps would treat there prostitutes like dogs and break them, so they will become dependent on them. I believe that is what the Nazi's would do to the Jews.

chapter 2 quote 1 : page 21

"The fire! The furnace! Look, over there!...."
When I found this quote after I read the rest of the chapter I kind of laughed because the Jews thought Madame Schachter was crazy because she kept on screaming about the fire; they would look out the window and there was no fire. When they finally got to the camp they smelled burning flesh and smelled the fire. It turns out the lady was trying to worn them and they would not listen.

chapter 3 quote 1: page 23

"You must never lose faith, even when the sword hangs over you head.'
This quote is important to me because its telling you to have faith even though its hard to have faith when your in a terrible situation. I wouldn't understand how you can have faith when the norm for you is death.

chapter 3 quote 2: page 23

" We've got to do something. We cant let ourselves be killed."
I know this guy is trying to be inspirational but what are you suppose to do? If you do something the Natzi's would torture you. If someone would have told me that id get pretty angry because its pointless to try and do something because like I said, they will torture you and if you do it you might put other people in danger.

chapter 3 quote 3: page 3

"You don't want to eat it all at once. Tomorrows another day..."
This quote is important to me because the kid is eating a lot because he hasn't eaten in a while and he probability doesn't really know the next time hes going to... he was starving. The child has had a lot of experienced a lot of poverty and suffered plenty.

chapter 4 quote 1: page 37

"You ...you...you and you..."
The way the natzi's treated the Jews were crazy. I don't understand how someone can treat another person so cruel. Like what does Hitler have against the Jews. Even is he had a good excuse to be mad at them, no one she be treated the way they were treated.

chapter 4 quote 2: page 50

"Bite your lip, little brother..keep your anger and hatred for another day"
The girl see's that he was getting really angry and she was helping him before the officers get him. He should be happy that the girl was looking out for him because if he would of went off, he would of be brutally beat, or he would of been killed. She saved him.. that's the reason why this quote is important to me me because if he would of got killed this book wouldn't excised.

Chapter 4 quote 3:page 47

"Long live liberty!"
This quote is important to me because these men lost there lives for what they believed in. What is also crazy about this is that the men could of lived if he would of told on the people who also did what they did. That's loyalty.

chapter 5 quote 1: page 56

"Its the end. God is no longer with us."
Akiba Drumer knows he is going to die because hes not strong enough to work anymore. The reason why this quote is important to me because Akiba probably thought he would survive the camp and someone would safe them. He lost his faith right before he died.

chapter 5 quote 2:pg 59

"Don't let yourself be fooled with illusions. Hitler made it very clear..."
This quote is important to me because this guy completely lost all of his hope and faith from the camp. He let the natzi's take the last things that he could have when you don't have anything which is god/faith/hope. He's also trying to bring everyone down with him.

chapter 6 quote 1:page 66

"I'm tired. Leave me alone. Leave me"
This quote is important to me because this guy made it this far (3 years) and he just gave up. I understand your EXTREMELY tired and your your numb but come on you should at least try.

chapter 7 quote 1: page 74

"Father"
This quote is important to me because Elie wakes up to someone choking him. Elie only had enough strength to yell out for his father was so weak that he couldn't even help his kid he had to ask someone else.

chapter 8 quote 1:page 80

"The doctor can't do anything for him.now.And neither can you."
This quote is important to me because this guy is telling Eliezer not to help his father anymore. The guy might be right but I don't understand how you can just let your father die to save yourself. I believe you should never give up on your parents they brought you into this world; If it wasn't them you wouldn't be in this world.

chapter 9 quote 1:page

"Go back to the blocks. The Germans are going to shoot you."
This quote is important to me because the Germans are still trying to shoot the Jews even though they know that the Russians are going to evade the camp. Why don't the Germans just leave the Jews and just saves there selves.
