Whole Grain Chocolate Chip Cookies

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups whole-wheat white flour
  • 1/2 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • Fine salt
  • 1 large egg

ingredients

  • 1/4 cup smooth unsweetened applesauce
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Add 1 1/2 sticks unsalted butter, softened 
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar & brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup semisweet chocolate chips

steps

  • Preheat oven to 350 degress F .Line two baking sheets with parchment paper 
  • Add the flour and oats to a food processor and pulse until the oats are finely ground
  • Transfer to a medium bowl, add the baking soda and 1/2 teaspoon salt and whisk to combine
  • Add the butter, granulated sugar , and brown sugar to a large bowl
  • .Beat on -high about 4 minutes.

steps

  • Add the applesauce-egg mixture and beat until incorporated 
  • Reduce the mixer speed to medium-low and add the flour-oats mixture in two batches
  • Add chocolate chips and mix until evenly distributed
  • Drop tablespoonfuls of batter onto the baking sheets, about 2in apart 
  • Bake until golden brown, 10 to 12 minutes
