Eighteen years ago, Lisa Canales found herself in need of a miracle when complications during childbirth became life threatening to her unborn child. It was at that time, when all hope seemed lost, that she turned to prayer – asking God to send his angels to protect her baby girl. Angel Mia was born healthy despite suffering an umbilical cord prolapse. From that day forward, Lisa made a promise to God that she would dedicate her life to community outreach.
Founded in 1995, Area Neighbors Getting Envolved Lovingly and Spiritually (A.N.G.E.L.S.), delivered its first food baskets to families in need – Angel Mia was six weeks old. Today, the
organization has delivered hundreds of food baskets to families in need of assistance every Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.
On May 2, 2014, the nonprofit organization will conduct its first major fund raiser – “City of The A.N.G.E.L.S.” One hundred percent of the funds raised will go back to the community and will help A.N.G.E.L.S. expand its outreach efforts to provide hope and assistance to more families than ever before.
