Before anything you MUST...

Figure out what you are going to give to your readers

The AUTHOR

What is the author trying to to tell you about him/her

"so what'

What are you trying to say about your topic and to others???

Step One

You need to 1st be able to read and comprehend the message given to you.  

REALIZATION
Once you realize what the author wants you to know then it becomes easier for you to understand the truth in the meaning of it

Purpose

Until you find the meaning, you have nothing

Literary Analysis???

- Your own ideas and thoughs on a piece of writing

Step Two

Write what you want and not what the teacher wants you to say 

Typical Ap essay???(includes)

  • How the author explains it to you (Insightful Analysis of the Work)
  • Make your point but have text to back it up with (Control of Rhetoric)
  • No errors of agreement (Control of Conventions)
  • Beginning and ending paragraphs (Control of Structure)

Explain What???

When you say something true, prove it and explain it using text

Back to Step one???

Go back and figure out what the author is telling you and explain it

AN ESSAY ON AN AP TEST??? (DOES THAT SOUND RIGHT)
