You may wonder: What is tuberculosis? Tuberculosis is a disease that can kill you and that you should take very seriously. People with tuberculosis suffer every day.

Tuberculosis can rot out your lungs and you may have to get 1 or more removed. Tuberculosis patients usually earn privileges (like sitting up) by improving in their health, which doesn’t happen all the time.

When you go outside when your tuberculosis is bad, your lungs can’t handle all the cold air and that is one way you can die. Another way is if all of your lungs rot out.

Famous people like Nelson Mandela, the former president of South Africa have tuberculosis also. Sadly, he died in 2013.

When you have tuberculosis, you earn privileges like reading a book by gaining a few pounds. It may be easy for you, but not for them.

When you have tuberculosis, you may have trouble breathing and it will be very hard to catch your breath. More tuberculosis patients die than go home well again.

You might also ask yourself: How do I prevent from getting tuberculosis? Do the simple things like washing your hands with soap and water before you touch food, and cover your cough.

Read some articles about tuberculosis and see what it feels like to be one of the patients. What would it feel like to wake up, possibly going to die?
