A secondary source is any source about an event, period, or issue in history that was produced after that event, period or issue has passed

  • Criticisms or commentaries
  • Articles that analyze or discuss ideas and events
  • Textbooks (May also be considered tertiary)

  • Letters, diaries or journals (Personal thoughts)
  • Original photographs
  • First-hand newspaper reports
  • Creative works like plays, paintings and songs
  • Research data and surveys
