Physical Post-war society

After a war, many people, such as military veterans, children, and civilians are not the same person after war. Most military veterans, after a war, have an increased chance of suffering from ALS, which is a disease that affects neurons. Many also have less limbs or are paralyzed after traumatic events.

In comparison, in "All Quiet on the Western Front", Kropp's leg is amputated due to the war, showing the how drastically life can change.

Mental and Psychological post-war society

After a war, numerous amounts of people suffer greatly. Many military veterans suffer from PTSD and depression. Even civilians suffer after a war. Many people uninvolved in a war suffer from grief of their lost ones

Similarly, in "All Quiet on the Western Front", Himmelstoss suffers from PTSD after surviving the war and witnessing all of his friends die.

Conclusion

In Erich Maria Remarque's "All Quiet on the Western Front" he portrays the horrors of war and how they change the environment greatly. Even though wars and terrorist attacks still happen to this day, many of these problems are still relevant and many suffer because of them.
