Vices and Virtues

One of the strongest virtues of weijerism is honesty.

It is extremely important for a person to be honest with themselves and with others.

By being honest with yourself, you accept your flaws and make them into a part of who you are.

Being honest with others allows for a stronger trust to form between you and the other person.

Being honest is also very important with friendship.

If you need to act like someone else to be someones friend, they do not become friends with you.

They become friends with someone else. They become friends with the person in your act.

We have seen this year that honesty is also important in business.

When Tylenol was tampered with in stores, the business was honest about the problem and took action immediately.

They could have denied the issue, but they accepted the full consequences and sacrificed their profits for the safety of others.

The worst vice that can be seen in american society today is ignorance.

People ignore facts, logic, evidence, and proven truths.

People ignore cautions and warnings, refusing to believe that they could ever be wrong.

Businesses ignore the consequences of their actions, choosing to deny any harm they cause.

Ignorance is found in animal testing, false advertising, and many other issues today.

We have discussed these issues and many others in class, and there are many other examples of rampant ignorance in society today.

The perfect society

In my perfect society, religion would not be much different from religion in society today.

Religion gives people something to believe in, and it provides hope in dire situations.

Religion at its core really is not bad or harmful, but certain aspects have become so over time.

In my society, religion would remain in the same effect as today, but with a few major changes.

No religion would be better than another.

All religions would be able to live peacefully with each other by accepting the fact that people have different beliefs.

Religion would still be able to help people without causing major conflicts over differences.

Another change would be that no person or group of people is better or worse than another.

Much like the previous change, this would eliminate almost all discrimination between peoples.

Basically, religion in my perfect society would remain mostly the same as modern society, without many of its major flaws.

The bad thing about society

The biggest problem in society is that people are unwilling to change.

Some people refuse to make any change to their personalities, beliefs, or expectations of others.

They attack and insult people who think differently, and blame them for the flaws in their own beliefs.

There is no easy solution to this problem.

We simply have to encourage others to change and hope that they listen.

Agreements and disagreements

Weijerism is not a very complicated philosophy.

Naturally, there are people who I agree with philosophically and people who I disagree with.

One person who I agree with is Stan Lee.

Stan Lee was a great man. Through his stories he has created worlds and universes for people of all ages to explore and enjoy.

There is one thing that he has said that I believe most accurately relates to weijerism.

"Anyone can be a superhero"

Anyone can be a hero. Anyone can do good. Anyone can make the world a better place.

Stan Lee embodied the spirit of charity and belief in others that weijerism strives to incorporate today.

Another person who I am in philosophical agreement with is Jose Mujica.

I learned about Jose Mujica while working on our ethical individuals project in class.

The former president of Uruguay, Jose Mujica was one of the "poorest" presidents in the world.

He could have lived an extravagant presidential life, but he instead chose to live his own way.

He chose freedom over tradition, donating all of his presidential salary to charity and leaving next to nothing for himself.

He exemplifies independence from physical normality, whereas weijerism encourages independence from mental normality.

Someone who I am in very little philosophical agreement with is Thomas Hobbes.

The fifteenth century author of "The Leviathan" Hobbes had beliefs very different from weijerism.

He believed that all people are inherently evil, and need a strong ruler to manage them lest chaos run through society.

Weijerism believes in the goodness of humanity, that all people are to be treated fairly and equally.

Another person with whom weijerism disagrees is Adolf Hitler.

I feel as though I don't really need to explain this, but I will anyway.

Adolf Hitler believed that the Aryan race was superior to all others.

He persecuted and murdered millions of Jewish people during the tragedy known as the Holocaust.

I believe in the equality of people from any culture, race, or ethnicity, which is in clear opposition with the beliefs of Adolf Hitler.

Happiness

Happiness is knowing who you are, and also what you are not.

For someone to be truly happy, they need to be comfortable with every aspect of themselves.

They know that people make mistakes, they know that people have flaws.

And because of this, they can forgive others.

Without forgiveness, resentment grows with a person.

A person can't find happiness if resentment is held within them.

Ethically Influential people

Two people who have had a significant impact on my moral development are my mother and my father.

Each of my parents have given me different tools that I have used to improve myself and determine my beliefs.

Throughout my life, my mother has taught me the importance of forgiveness and honesty.

She has done so much for me in my life, guiding me through the world and allowing me to learn from her example.

Without her, I would be a very different person than the one I am today.

By living with my father I have learned that any situation can be faced with a smile.

The constant positive attitude of my father has shown me that there is nothing that a bad joke can't help.

He has given me countless happy memories that I will take with me for the rest of my life.

The love and care that my parents have given me over my life has allowed me to grow and develop into the person I am today.

Weijerism in a nutshell

The central ideas of weijerism are broad, unspecific, and probably not going to get me a good score.

But if I tried to describe them in any other way I wouldn't be expressing what I really believe.

There aren't many specific aspects of weijerism that define something as right or wrong. But there are a few.

A decision is wrong if it hurts other people mentally or physically.

That rule is a little bit of common sense, but it applies to weijerism nonetheless.

By listening to others and considering the full consequences of your actions on all people, you can ensure that no harm is done.

A decision that you make is wrong if it goes against who you are as a person.

What this means is that first you need to look inside of yourself and determine what kind of person you feel most comfortable being.

If a situation requires you to go against your personality or beliefs, then that situation is better avoided.

The most important pillar of weijerism is knowing that other people have different beliefs than you.

Basically, you can believe whatever you want to believe, and other people can believe what they want to believe.

This applies for almost anything, except if a person's beliefs bring harm to others.

So overall, weijerism is about being true to yourself.

It's about caring for others, and respecting opinions that differ from yours.

At its core, weijerism is honesty.

Weijerism is forgiveness.

Weijerism is believing in yourself and in others.

But most importantly, weijerism is about being yourself.
