PRESENTATION OUTLINE

Theseus is a legendary hero of Athens. He is the son of Aegeus who is king of Athens and is the husband of Phaedra. Theseus is a hero for slaying the Minotaur. With the help of Ariadne he was able to kill this beast.

Hippolytu is the Amazonian queen who possessed a magic girdle. This was a gift from her father Ares. This belt shows her authority as Amazonian queen. Heracles and Theseus are apart of some of Hippolytus stories.

Aeneas was a Trojan hero. He was the son of prince Anchises and goddess Venus. Aeneas was mentioned in Homer's Iliad. He is also in Virgil's Aeneid where he is an ancestor of Romulus and Remus.

Dido is the queen and founder of Carthage. She fell in love with the shipwreck ed Aeneas. Later she killed herself when he deserted her. In some sources and stories she is also known as Elissa.

Venus is the mother of Roman people through her son Aeneas. Her son survived the fall of Troy and fled to Italy. Julius Caesar claimed her as his ancestor. Venus was central to many religious festivals.

Hercules is the Roman name for the Greek divine hero. He is the son of Zeus and mortal Alcmene. In classic mythology he is famous for his strength. He is also known for his numerous far-ranging adventures.

Phoebe is a titaness. She is the daughter of Uranus and Gaia. Through her daughter,Leto, Phoebe was the grandmother of Apollo and Artemi. In latter writing her name was used for Selene.

Diana is the goddess of hunt, the moon, and childbirth. She was equated with the Greek goddess Artemis because of her abilities. Diana was one of the three maiden goddesses. She was known to be the virgin goddess of childbirth and women.
