Muskets

  • Muskets were the most frequently used firearm during the war.
  • Along with the weapon itself the gun commonly had a bayonet attached to it.

The Flintlock Pistol

  • The pistol was inaccurate and  was rather weak.
  • The range of the pistol did not even exceed 15 ft.
  • Instead the pistol was used for duels where typically no one died .

The Cannon

  • The cannon at times could take up to 14 men to operate.
  • However the cannon's shot could take out dozens of men.

Swords

  • Swords were generally used by officers.
  • Many swords were more of a symbol or a sign but was not actually used.
  • Many leaders were proud of their sword and thought it was necessary to have

The Turtle

  • The turtle was the first submarine used in naval combat.
  • It was supposed to be used to plant bombs on to British ships.
  • However due to hard operation of the turtle it never had a successful trip.
