What Can We Do With Geography

By: Carson J. and Cooper H.

We Can Know the terrain better

  • By Making sure that you wear the right shoes for the terrain you're on
  • By Bringing appropriate gear for the terrain
  • By judging whether or not you should go that way (If you were on a bike)
  • By knowing what the wildlife is if you were Hiking or Camping
  • By knowing if that area is immersed in tall grass, or if it has trails, etc

We Can Know Certain Landmarks Better

  • By studying National Landmarks and where they are located
  • By asking for directions from locals
  • By knowing the distance from where you are to the Landmark
  • By being able to tell whether it is a safe place to go or not
  • By looking at brochures from the park, so you know the Park Hours, etc.

We Can Find Things On Maps Better

  •  By Being able to know Latitude and Longitude
  •  By Being able to know where things are on maps
  • By being able to tell your current location on maps
  • By being able to know where you are going to end up
  • By being able to know where you started if you had to go back

We Could Be A Scientist

  • Scientists have to know things about volcanoes
  • They have to know about natural gas, and radiation (in case of leaks)
  • They need to know about the terrain on mountains, etc.
  • Scientists need to know locations of places people shouldn't be at
  • They also need to know about volcanic activity / earthquakes in mountains

We Could Be A Park Ranger

  • Rangers need to know National Parks / Mountains
  • They need to know where not to take people
  • They need to know when certain things happen for ex: (Old Faithful)
  • They need to know their way around the Parks, and the trails
  • Rangers need to know about when they can take people on tours
