HOW AND WHERE

  • It is used to make clean water for people to drink
  • Treatment Plants are commonly found near bodies of water like lakes, rivers and oceans.

  • Public Notification Rule: Telling the public of any regulation violations
  • Groundwater Rule: Protecting groundwater sources from contaminants

IMPACTS ON THE ENVIRONMENT

  • Water Treatment plants that do not properly follow Stage 1 & 2 of DBPR (Disinfection Byproduct Rule) could cause fish in the water they use to get diseases that they could pass on to humans

IMPACTS THAT AFFECT MINNESOTA

  • Minnesota has a lot of lakes that are used as water sources and fishing.
  • So when treatment plants do not properly follow rules it could lead to hurting the fish in the water.

  • An unknown treatment plant was hacked. The hackers changed the chemical levels used to treat the water.
