SUMMARY

• This book is about a girl named Melba Pattillo.
• She is black and wants to go to a white school for her equal rights.
• But then notices she doesn't like it as much seeing an angry ,ob everyday in her life.
• Only some whites help her and her family through this tragedy, getting her through the year.

CONFLICT

• One day Melba watched her friend, Elizabeth eckford, being tortured by and angry,
• Mob with insults and name calling.

CONFLICT SOLVED

• Melba over came the angry mob by ignoring their insults toward her,
• And her friends.
• Thanks to Elizabeth, Melba has gained bravery to overcame the angry mob.

CONFLICT # 2

• Andy was trying to attack Melba so she started walking away
• From him very fast.
• Link noticed what was happening but had to think about what to do.

SOLVED CONFLICT #2

• Link was nice and gave his car to Melba so she could get away.
• She realized that she could trust him now.

• This book was excellent because it made us realize not to judge someone
• For their appearance and to get to know them before you say you do not
• Like them
