  • Enlightened French philosopher
  • Believed in freedom of speech
  • Didn't like that the church held more power than the governments

  • Born on November, 24 1694 in Paris, France
  • He was exiled many times
  • To tulle on 1717, went back to Paris two years later, and got himself exiled to Bastille for one year.

  • He then returned to Paris and got himself exiled to Bastille to get him ready to get sent to England
  • He decided to go to Lorraine and then in 1756 he wrote Candide and returned to Paris two years later to die on May 30 the same year

  • On 1701 his mother died, three years later, he showed promise as a writer

  • His last awesome words were "I die adoring God, loving my friends, not hating my enemies, and detesting superstition." Voltaire died in his sleep on May 30, 1778, in Paris, France.
